Hai Phong is a coastal city, located in the east of Northern coastal area, 120 km away from capital Ha Noi, with a total natural area of 152,318.49ha (according to statistics of 2001), equal to 0.45% natural area of the whole country.

Administrative boundary: It borders - Quang Ninh province in the north - Hai Duong province in the west - Thai Binh province in the south - Eastern sea in the east Geographic co-ordinates of the citIn addition, Bach Long Vi island belonging to the city administration is located in the middle of the Tonkin Gulf, spreading from North latitude 20o07'35" to 20o08'36" and from East longitude 107o24'20" to 107o44'15". The city is located in a convenient position for transportation to domestic provinces and international networks via road network, railway, sea routes, inland waterway and air.
